- Samsung has updated SmartThings integration with IKEA smart home devices
- You can now connect 25 new IKEA devices directly to your SmartThings hub
- Now works with the SmartThings app on Samsung TVs
Samsung’s smart home platform SmartThings has just received a much-needed update with the addition of more integrations for IKEA’s new range of smart home devices.
The Korean tech giant has added improved integrations for 25 of IKEA’s latest Matter-over-Thread smart home devices, including smart plugs and lighting. This also includes the IKEA scroll wheel remote control, door sensors, water leak sensors, air quality sensors, and more.
While IKEA’s flagship range is a step below many of the best smart home devices, they are solid entry-level options that allow Samsung users to create their own smart home ecosystem at an affordable price.

Until now, connecting IKEA smart home devices to SmartThings could be a bit complicated. Previously, users would need separate IKEA hubs and SmartThings to integrate IKEA smart devices, but now users can connect them directly to a SmartThings hub.
There is also good news for Samsung TV owners as this integration also allows you to easily control IKEA devices through the SmartThings app on your TV on its big screen and integrate IKEA devices with Samsung smart appliances such as washing machines and air purifiers.
Announcing the improved connectivity, Samsung Executive Vice President of SmartThings Jaeyeon Jung said: “By connecting IKEA devices to SmartThings, even first-time smart home users can enjoy a simple and familiar connectivity experience without the financial burden.” He also added that “SmartThings will continue to expand its ecosystem through partnerships, enabling more consumers to enjoy a convenient and seamless smart home experience within the SmartThings ecosystem, regardless of brand or communication protocol.”
IKEA has redoubled its commitment to further expanding into the smart home market this year, and at CES in January it unveiled a number of new products, including the donut-shaped Varmblixt smart lamp (pictured above), which quickly went viral.
At the show we spoke to David Granath, IKEA’s lighting and home electronics range manager, who previewed the company’s expansion into the smart home, promising much more affordable and easy-to-use devices, and new smart features for existing products.
