Hundreds of users suffered online outages when Bluesky’s official status page showed a status of “some systems down.”
The outage began early today morning and many found their Home and Explore feeds completely broken.
The incident occurred in the eastern region of the US, while crowd-supported status pages recorded a clear increase in complaints about the app, feeds, and its timelines.
The outage appears to be affecting many users, with the app returning messages such as “Error loading feeds” and “Cannot connect. Please check your internet connection and try again.”
On the other hand, Bluesky’s own figures still show strong overall uptime, making the problem more apparent: a service can appear stable on paper and still be disruptive to users in a specific region.
Let’s find out where the outage is happening and causing internet outages for hundreds of users.
At the time of writing, Bluesky, while updating the status of the outages, said: “We are starting to see an early recovery, but many users and services are still affected.”
The outages have affected the eastern regions of the US since the morning and linked the outage to an issue with an upstream service provider.
Bluesky added that it was working with that provider to restore full service as soon as possible.
However, at this time, Bluesky’s official status page still marks the incident as ongoing.
