Kelly Clarkson is embracing her next chapter and doing so with lots of laughter.
During the opening night of her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace on July 17, the Grammy winner playfully celebrated life afterward. The Kelly Clarkson Showjoking that he doesn’t have to worry about corporate rules anymore.
“They would fire me.” [by] NBC, but I don’t work there anymore,” Clarkson told the crowd. “We’re sad [it]. “It was a fun show.”
She then launched into a funny comparison between the music industry and office life, admitting that life on a tour bus prepared her for almost anything, but not HR meetings.
“It’s funny, you go to those HR meetings and say, ‘No one on tour would last,’” he joked, recalling his early days on tour.
“I was 19 on a bus with kids. ‘What? I can’t do what?’ ‘Yes, that is completely inappropriate.’”
Clarkson also poked fun at the never-ending debate about commenting on someone’s appearance.
“I say, bitch! You better write a memo about it, write a song about it,” he joked. “I think that’s very silly. It makes people feel good when you say, ‘Oh, you look great.'”
After jokingly singing, “No more HR meetings!” She revealed that she was probably everyone’s least favorite coworker during job training.
“Actually, everyone hated having HR meetings with me because I’m a nerd,” she admitted, explaining that she constantly interrupted the sessions with questions before adding, “I don’t have to do that anymore anyway.”
Clarkson announced earlier this year that her Emmy-winning talk show will end after seven seasons as she focuses on spending more time with her children.
Fans, however, won’t say goodbye for long: she will return as a coach on The Voice this fall.
