ISLAMABAD:

The government has revised the prices of petroleum products, reducing the price of kerosene and significantly increasing that of light diesel.

According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), the price of kerosene decreased by Rs 4.45 per litre, taking the new rate to Rs 360.76 per litre.

On the contrary, light diesel became more expensive by Rs 17.03 per liter, and the new price was set at Rs 287.54 per liter. The adjustment reflects fluctuations in international oil markets and exchange rate pressures, which affect domestic fuel prices.

Amid the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz due to the Iran-US conflict, the government on Thursday increased the price of high speed diesel (HSD) by Rs 19.39 per liter and the price of petrol by Rs 6.51 per liter for a week.

HSD will now be sold at Rs 399.58 per liter, up from Rs 380.19, while petrol will be available at Rs 399.86 per liter compared to the previous price of Rs 393.35, reflecting an increase of Rs 6.51 per litre.

HSD is widely used in the transportation and agriculture sectors. With the planting campaign underway, the increase in its price is expected to negatively affect agriculture.
