Lisa Kudrow spoke about her time in Friends and said the writers’ room could feel too harsh, calling some behavior “bad.”
The 62-year-old actress, who played the iconic role of Phoebe Buffay on the famous show, said the cast had a close bond but the atmosphere behind the scenes was often intense.
Lisa shared that the show was filmed in front of a live audience of 400 people, which added a lot of pressure.
The star went on to recall those moments when things went wrong and said the writers reacted strongly, saying, “He can’t read? He’s not even trying. He ruined my line.”
Lisa also said that there were 12 to 15 people in the writers’ room and they were mostly men.
Lisa also addressed previous claims from former assistant Amaani Lyle, who said she overheard inappropriate conversations in the writers’ room.
Lisa said, “And we know that in the room guys were staying up late discussing their sexual fantasies about Jennifer and Courteney. It was intense.”
Even with all that, he said he tried not to bring the stress home.
Lisa said: “Sure, and all because I got married early and out of the business. No one was interested. There was no story.”
