Marvel has finally confirmed when X-Men 97 season 2 is coming out: Wednesday, July 1.
Announced in a press release and on the comic giant’s social channels yesterday (May 27), the top-rated animated show will return to Disney+ in just over a month. And, to whet fans’ appetite for X-Men 97In the next chapter, Marvel also released an absolute trailer for the next season, which you can see below:

In an Entertainment Weekly article published before the aforementioned revelations, executive producer Larry Huston confirmed that the Marvel Phase 6 show will run for at least four seasons. We already knew that the show has been renewed for a third season, but this is the first time anyone has acknowledged that a fourth is in active development.

That’s good news, right? On the surface, yes. Releasing seasons annually is the way things worked before the advent of streaming, so it’s a pleasure to know that the wait for a new installment of X-Men 97 will not be significant.
That being said, I hope it doesn’t fall into the same criticisms that have been leveled at another animated show in Invincible.
After a nearly three-year wait between its first and second seasons, Amazon now releases new seasons of R-rated Prime Video TV Original each year. As good as it is, sections of the show’s fanbase have been unimpressed by what they believe is a drop in the quality of its animation, with some theorizing that the annual churn of new installments is actively harming the final product.
With X-Men 97 willing to follow in the footsteps of Invincible, will he fall into the same problem? For a show loved by millions and one that has a near-perfect critical score on Rotten Tomatoes, it would be a huge shame if one of Marvel’s best TV shows followed the same path as its Amazon counterpart.
