King Charles and Queen Camilla welcomed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the United Kingdom just so Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet could reconnect with their roots.
The royal breakup and Harry’s concerns for his family’s safety had kept the children away from their grandfather. However, the meeting in Highgrove this month has given some hope for more meetings in the future.
Although Harry, who has received much praise for his recent appearances at charity events and his ability to get the job done with ease, plans to return to his royal duties. Meanwhile, Meghan is not on board and neither is the Palace, sources have revealed.
In unlikely circumstances, the Palace and Meghan are on the same page, indicating that it would not be a good idea to have a “half in, half out” situation, something Queen Elizabeth II was strictly against.
“Meghan has no interest in returning to Britain,” a source told Rob Shuter. “Harry believes that an overseas role, particularly in Australia, would allow them to serve the King while maintaining the life he has built with Meghan and the children.”
As for the Palace, they are not considering the idea, a royal source insisted, noting that the late Queen had made it “very clear” and that politics did not end with her.
“Harry believes there is a creative compromise,” another source said. “The institution believes that the rules already exist. They are not going to reinvent the monarchy for a single member of the family.”
Experts say they can dream of becoming royal again, but the chapter is closed for the Palace.
