Meryl Streep has confessed that she once had a real problem with her old friend Goldie Hawn, and it all came down to punctuality.

talking to vanity fairStreep, 76, recalled the frustration of working alongside Hawn, 80, on the 1992 supernatural black comedy. Death becomes herin which the pair played rivals competing for the same man.

The problem? Hawn was always late and somehow always got his way.

“Goldie, she was always late to the set. But she was so adorable. And I’m always on time, you know, and I’m annoying. But she’s late, and she had a red convertible, I remember, and she drove herself to the set. So that was probably the problem.”

The image of Hawn cheerfully walking onto the set after having driven there, hair already combed and full of apologies, apparently made it impossible for anyone to remain upset.

“She was driving to the set alone. Her hair was all… ‘Oh, God, I’m sorry!’ And everyone thought, ‘Oh, she’s so cute.’ Yes. So I had a problem with her,” Streep said.

Despite the initial frustration, the friendship endured.

“I loved her. I love her. She’s one of my friends and over the years we’ve laughed at that movie a little bit because people love it. I thought it was like a documentary about Beverly Hills.”

Streep’s comments about past issues came the same week she found herself in an unlikely confrontation with Travis Kelce, after she joked around while promoting. The Devil Wears Prada 2 that he would like to see the Kansas City Chiefs tight end try to walk in stilettos on the cobblestones of Milan.

Jason Kelce brought up the topic on the brothers’ New Heights podcast, asking Travis, “Do we have a problem with Meryl Streep?” Travis was emphatic.

“That’s a powerful woman. I’m a Meryl Streep fan. I have no problem with her.”

After a clip of Streep’s comment played, Travis responded with his characteristic confidence: “Oh, Meryl, you have no idea how good I am at walking in heels. Okay?”
