Netflix has announced that it will release a new horror game. Unhingedon June 30 and will be available to all levels of subscribers.
Unhinged was created by Oxenfree developer Night School Studio, and is a first-person horror game that focuses on two young women who are neighbors, as one tries to escape a home invasion.
Night School game director Sam Warner told Rolling Stone: “I grew up with it, and I think focusing on novel, innovative games was something we really started this game with. If you have Netflix and you have a phone, then this is for you.”
A tense trailer was shared on social media to Unhingedwhere Netflix confirmed that it would be released worldwide on June 30.
There is a lot to be excited about when it comes to Unhinged. First of all, attached is an amazing cast including stranger things‘Sadie sinkthe batmanZoĆ« Kravitz and the last of us‘ voice actor Troy Baker.
Honestly, you can’t get a better cast. I’m excited to see these stars in action, especially when it comes to the tight sets of first-person horror like this. It has the potential to be great.
As for gameplay, you’ll need your phone for this one. Instead of being an interactive movie that you control with your remote, Unhinged Use your phone to receive calls and text messages or to look around the world with a virtual flashlight.
There are multiple paths you can follow and of course you can die. So there’s a lot at stake here and you’ll have to pay attention if you want to leave the house safely. The game is said to last less than an hour, similar to an episode of a Netflix series, but you have the opportunity to go back and explore new paths.
I’ve had mixed opinions on Netflix games so far, but this one sounds promising. I can’t wait to see it on June 30th.
