Norway will face Senegal in its second match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament on Monday night at New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Several hours before the whistle blew on the field, Norwegian fans flocked to Times Square, in the heart of New York City, to give their team a proper send-off.

Hundreds of Norwegian fans held “Viking Row” to offer proper support to their country’s best football players. Max Bretos, the voice of Major League Soccer’s LA FC, posted a video on his X account showing the crowd of fans in Times Square.
“Imagine that you are heading to Times Square, New York, to see ‘Les Misérables’ and you come across this…” he wrote in X.
Norway comes into the Group I match in first place after a resounding victory over Iraq. The team still has to play against France in the group stage, which will come in its finale.

Senegal will have to work hard to get a point. Containing soccer star Erling Haaland is a mission in itself.
“Yes, Haaland, but it’s not just Haaland,” Senegal backup goalkeeper Mory Diaw said through an interpreter. “Haaland alone can’t do anything. He needs his teammates, so it’s not about how to stop Haaland. It’s up to us to be ready for the game against Norway.”
Senegal coach Pepe Thiaw said that in order to keep Norway at bay, Haaland must be neutralized.
“Obviously, Haaland doesn’t need any introduction,” Thiaw said. “We have good defenders. We have very high-level defenders who have played in very high-level competitions and have encountered forwards of this caliber.”
