Are you looking for a different day?
A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone, which means some people are always playing “today’s game” while others play “yesterday’s.” If you are instead looking for Wednesday’s puzzle then click here: NYT Strands Tips and Answers for Wednesday, July 8 (Game #857).

My first glimpse of this topic made me think of the old weight-loss mantra “a moment on the lip, a lifetime on the hips” intended to warn dieters against the brief pleasure of a French fry, as opposed to the permanent delight of a lean physique.
I digress, as we weren’t looking for diet advice, but rather things that could be applied to lips, of which there are many possibilities.
Fortunately, despite the large number of words in the search, they were all short and easy to spot, with the biggest challenge being the 13-letter spangram.
Answers from yesterday’s NYT Strands (Wednesday, July 8, game #857)
- ROGUE
- THUG
- rapsallon
- WHIPPER-SNAPPER
- SPANGRAM: LITTLE DEVIL
