A new NYT Strands puzzle appears at midnight every day for your time zone, which means some people are always playing “today’s game” while others play “yesterday’s.” If instead you are looking for the Tuesday puzzle then click here: NYT Strands Tips and Answers for Tuesday, July 28 (Game #877).
Strands is the latest NYT word game after Wordle, Spelling Bee, and Connections, and it’s a lot of fun. It can be difficult, though, so read on for my Strands suggestions.

NYT Strands Today (Game #878): The Answers
The answers to today’s Strands game #878 are…
- DOLL
- PUPPET
- FICTIONAL
- MANIKIN
- FIGURINE
- STATUE
- SPANGRAM: MANUFACTURED
- My rating: Easy
- My score: Perfect
A made man could mean a titan of industry, a gangster, or, if taken literally, a scarecrow or even a PUPPET.
My first two words had double letters, a pattern that continued with DUMMY and the slightly more challenging MANNEQUIN, a word I would have struggled to spell without my help.
With the quest pretty much figured out I saw FABRICED, although for full disclosure I must reveal that I completely missed it while collecting “cloth” as a non-gaming word.
