Olivia Rodrigo shared more insights about her upcoming album, You seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.in a new interview and shared the challenges she felt writing from a place of happiness, rather than heartbreak unlike her first two albums.
The 23-year-old pop superstar shared that she felt challenged when she approached the piano and attempted to write about her happiness, as she was in her first romantic relationship at the time.
“When I set out to correct this album… it felt like a challenge to write something that had meaning and I think writing a song about happiness is much more difficult than writing a song about heartbreak,” Rodrigo told the hosts in a video that went viral.
The Grammy winner went on to share that she then challenged herself “to make a love song and also talk about the negative feelings that come with being in a romantic relationship, like longing, longing, jealousy, and missing your partner when they’re away, and that was the challenge for me to marry those two worlds.”
