PM reiterates determination to eliminate terrorism from Pakistan


The Prime Minister recognizes KP as a province of strategic importance and recognizes its sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

ISLAMBAD:

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, speaking at the National Workshop belonging to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in Islamabad, reiterated his government’s dedication to eradicating terrorism from Pakistan, highlighting the role of the armed forces in achieving this.

In his speech, according to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized that national security is a top priority for his government, and that a comprehensive strategy is in place to address both internal and external security threats. He stressed that with the unwavering support of the Pakistani nation and armed forces, the country is prepared to face these challenges head-on. “Through hard work, trust and honesty, we will soon achieve the position that Pakistan truly deserves among the community of nations,” he says.

The Prime Minister recognized Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as a strategically important province and acknowledged its sacrifices in the war against terrorism. He noted that the people and security forces of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have made unparalleled contributions to this cause. He also recalled how the province had generously welcomed Afghan refugees during the Afghan war, providing shelter to around four million Afghan citizens.

On the economic front, the Prime Minister reported significant progress in achieving macroeconomic stability and highlighted the government’s plans to further boost growth in agriculture, trade, exports and information technology.

Mentioning the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, he noted that in 2010, Punjab led the way by contributing one per cent of its share to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in recognition of the province’s sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

On external security threats, Prime Minister Shehbaz spoke of last year’s unprovoked Indian aggression and stated that Pakistan responded quickly and effectively by shooting down seven Indian aircraft in self-defence. Under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asif Munir, he said, the Pakistani army delivered a powerful message to the enemy, one that would be remembered.

The Prime Minister also addressed the issue of malicious propaganda against the Pakistani armed forces, particularly on social media platforms, often backed by foreign entities. He reaffirmed his commitment to countering these divisive efforts and strengthening the image of the armed forces.

Prime Minister Shehbaz concluded his speech by reaffirming the government’s unwavering dedication to securing the future of Pakistan and ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens.
