Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Saturday that the United States and Iran had agreed on a framework for a peace deal that would end the months-long conflict in the Middle East, with a final text of the deal reached.

Pakistan is now preparing for an e-signature scheduled for the next 24 hours, followed by technical-level talks next week, he added in a post on X.

“We are closer than ever to a peace agreement. With its completion likely expected in the next 24 hours, Pakistan is preparing for the electronic signing of the peace agreement immediately afterwards, followed by technical-level talks next week.”

He also thanked the United States and Iran for their continued commitment during the negotiations. He extended his sincere gratitude to his brothers in the region for their support.

“We are confident that this historic peace agreement will provide a solid foundation for lasting peace,” he added.

US President Donald Trump shared the prime minister’s post on his own Truth Social platform.

Meanwhile, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif praised Pakistan’s mediation efforts to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran, saying the process was aimed at ensuring continued engagement between the two sides and paving the way for a positive outcome in the coming days. He said the agreement would be presented as the “Islamabad Pact”.

Speaking to a private television channel, he said Pakistan had brought both the United States and Iran to the dialogue table so that communication was not interrupted and the process could continue, eventually reaching a positive conclusion in the coming days.

On this occasion, the minister strongly condemned Israel’s actions aimed at sabotaging the dialogue process and described its role as “destructive.”

“At various times, Israel has played a very negative and destructive role. In Lebanon, thousands of children and innocent civilians were killed, while in Gaza the genocide continues even today. Their goal was to ensure that the conflict continued and that the United States remained involved in the region in one way or another,” he said.

He also praised the US administration, particularly President Trump, for its role during the dialogue process, saying that Trump had set an example of how a bold global leader should lead. He also praised the Iranian administration, saying it had created new history.

“Iran has set a new example by the way it defended itself with courage, bravery and deep patriotism,” he said, adding that both countries had demonstrated wisdom and good judgment.

He went on to state that “an agreed final text of the peace agreement has been reached and Pakistan is now working closely with both sides to finalize the next steps,” adding that “peace has never been closer than it is now.”

The United States and Iran signaled on Friday that they were close to reaching a deal to end their war, and a senior U.S. administration official said both sides had agreed on text and that Washington hopes to sign an initial deal in the coming days.

The war began with joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28. Iran then fired on US military targets in the Gulf and Hezbollah in Lebanon counterattacked Israel.

The war has killed thousands of people, mainly in Iran and Lebanon, and has sharply raised global energy prices.
