PM to review law and order in Quetta

ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will chair a high-level meeting in Quetta on Thursday (today) on the law and order situation in Balochistan during a day-long visit to the provincial capital, Express News reported.

The prime minister will also chair a meeting of the provincial Apex Committee. The meeting will review the overall law and order situation in the province while relevant authorities will brief the Prime Minister on the prevailing security situation.

Balochistan this week saw three major terrorist attacks in which 42 security personnel and civilians were martyred in different parts of the province. The military said on Wednesday that counterterrorism operations in response to the attacks had killed 54 terrorists.

On Tuesday, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti chaired a meeting in Ziarat after nine policemen were martyred in a terror attack. In a statement, Bugti warned that anyone who defies state orders will only face defeat and destruction.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed that indiscriminate operations against terrorists and their enablers will continue until the last militant is eliminated. He stressed that those who take up arms against the State will not find refuge in Balochistan.

Bugti emphasized that there will be no compromise on peace, stability and development of Balochistan and any conspiracy against the province will be crushed with strength, determination and national unity.
