President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the government and people of Azerbaijan on Independence Day.
In a message, the president said Pakistan and Azerbaijan are united by a deep-rooted brotherly relationship dating back to their independence, which draws its strength from a shared faith and a rich cultural heritage and common values.
He noted that over the years, bilateral relations have evolved into a strong and enduring partnership characterized by mutual trust, understanding and strong mutual support on issues of critical national interest.
President Zardari stated that the people of Pakistan rejoice at the remarkable socio-economic progress, national cohesion and prosperity achieved by Azerbaijan under the dynamic and visionary leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further deepen and diversify multifaceted cooperation, particularly in the areas of bilateral trade, energy connectivity, defense collaboration and people-to-people exchanges, for the mutual benefit of both sister nations.
The President further conveyed his best wishes for the continued peace and prosperity of the people of Azerbaijan.
