Look animated, reality TV fans: real housewives from london Season 2 will return to Hayu on September 7.
According to NBCUniversal, housewives Juliet Angus, Amanda Cronin, Karen Loderick-Peace, Juliet Mayhew, Panthea Parker and Nessie Welschinger return, and “old friendships are tested, new loyalties are questioned and even the most glamorous zip code can’t contain the drama.”
The synopsis continues: “After an off-camera dinner, the women try to make their way through charity galas, the front rows of Fashion Week, Lunar New Year celebrations, and an amazing trip to Antigua.”
After the September 7 premiere, the remaining episodes will be released weekly. With 10 episodes in total, the season will culminate with a reunion special hosted by author and podcast host Katherine Ryan.
It’s this final detail that I have the biggest problem with… and I desperately hope that the hit series doesn’t repeat the same mistake that so many international versions make year after year.
Opinion: Real Housewives Needs to Change Their Reunion Show Format ASAP
Look
I would apologize for hating, but I actually find it very useful to be a stay at home mom. After streaming multiple episodes of malicious VT, explosive showdowns, and truly mind-numbing household setups, I often feel my shoulders slump when the reunion show comes around.
Essentially, a host will sit the entire cast down in a live studio format to recap the drama of past episodes, getting their individual opinions on what happened and if anything has changed since filming.
If you hate overly edited and contrived TV scenes like I do, this is an absolute nightmare. It’s part and parcel of the Real Housewives intellectual property that drama is escalated and engineered, but reunion shows channel this in the most inorganic way possible.
At least if someone is fighting in a restaurant over a kitchen island, they’re genuinely in the moment: they don’t have to over-act their emotions because they’re feeling them in real time. But revisiting the past is simply a way to create a viral moment rather than involving television.
Instead, I would prefer that meetings be canceled entirely to allow the next season (which in this case has not been greenlit) to arrive sooner rather than later.
real housewives from london Season 3 won’t be a bad decision for anyone, so what are we waiting for?
