Ripple’s RLUSD Receives Two Raises as Transfer Volume Drops 25%

Financial technology company Ripple took two steps on Thursday aimed at growing its dollar-backed stablecoin, RLUSD, in a month in which transfer volumes through the token fell 25%.

The first is Ripple Mint, a platform that allows institutional clients to create, redeem, pool and track RLUSD through a web dashboard or direct integration.

Until now, minting RLUSD (the process of issuing new tokens when a customer deposits dollars) usually meant arranging it directly with Ripple and waiting for a manual issuance process. APIs allow a company to trigger minting and redemption automatically from its own systems and track every transaction, from dollar transfer to on-chain settlement.

Ripple has also been extending RLUSD beyond the XRP Ledger and Ethereum into the XRPL sidechain EVM, Base, Optimism, Ink, and Unichain, expanding the number of networks where the token can circulate.

Separately, Ripple announced a strategic investment in Notabene on Thursday evening. This fulfillment network places RLUSD within its merchant payments platform, placing the token in front of institutions positioned to send and receive it.

So while Mint is designed to make RLUSD easy to create and manage, Notabene is designed to advance it through institutional payment paths.
