Sadie Sink has revealed that she did not receive a script for her mysterious role in Spider-Man: New Day until he has landed in London and keeps to himself every detail of what will happen next.
He stranger things The actress will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe when the film opens on July 31, but her role has been kept so secret that she has not appeared in any trailers or marketing materials, despite being one of the most recognizable faces of her generation.
Internet speculation has largely focused on the theory that she is playing a young Jean Grey, which could set up a new generation of X-Men within the MCU, but 22-year-old Sink isn’t playing along.
“You just don’t share the secret, it’s not that hard,” he told Nylon in a new cover story.
The secrecy extended even to the early stages of their involvement.
She was offered the role without an audition; director Destin Daniel Cretton had worked with her on the 2017 film. The glass castle, and only received the script once he had already landed in London to start filming.
Despite delving into the enormity of the spider man franchise as something of an outsider, Sink said his co-star Tom Holland made the experience much less daunting than it could have been.
“It was interesting to walk into that space and be a little strange in that sense, but he couldn’t have been more welcoming, and the whole team in general. He was very relaxed and open, and I felt very at ease.”
She was candid about the magnitude of what she has committed to.
“I knew Marvel was important and had a great brand, especially spider man. I know there’s a big fan base, but it feels really big. “I think these blockbuster movies are a completely different beast.”
Spider-Man: New Day It stars Holland alongside returning cast members Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, with Mark Ruffalo and Jon Bernthal also appearing as Hulk and Punisher respectively.
Whatever Sink’s character is, audiences will find out on July 31.
