Supreme Court Dismisses Former Trump Aide Carter Page’s Wiretap Lawsuit for Spying in Russia Investigation

The Supreme Court dismissed President Trump’s former adviser Carter Page’s lawsuit on Monday, June 15, 2026.

Page sued former FBI officials over botched government surveillance he was subjected to amid the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the lawsuit was barred by the statute of limitations.

Page, who had served in Trump’s Cabinet as a political adviser in 2016, sued James Comey, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and others over what the lawsuit said was investigators’ alleged use of a wiretap commissioned under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

However, a report by the Justice Department’s inspector general later concluded that the process used to obtain the FISA warrant was based on a series of errors and mistakes.

Page had also filed a lawsuit against the FBI and the Department of Justice, but in April the Trump administration settled the lawsuit.

The remaining issues still pending before the appeals court involved litigation involving FBI officials who worked under the Biden administration.

After Page’s appeal was dismissed in lower courts, the former Trump adviser appealed to the Supreme Court in December.

The conclusions of special counsel Robert Mueller’s final report highlighted Page’s pre-campaign ties to two Russian intelligence officers, a visit he made to Moscow in the summer of 2016 and his meetings with Moscow officials.

Page filed the lawsuit in November 2020.
