Swiss International said a flight from Delhi to Zurich had to abort takeoff early Sunday after an engine problem, adding that four passengers and one crew member were injured.

The airline did not provide further details, but the Economic times reported that one of the engines had caught fire while the plane was accelerating down a runway and that passengers were injured during an emergency evacuation.

“Shortly after 1 a.m. local time on April 26, a problem occurred with one of the engines during takeoff of flight LX147 in Delhi. The crew aborted the takeoff and, after assessing the situation, decided to evacuate the aircraft as a precautionary measure,” Swiss International said in a statement.

It said it had set up a task force to investigate the incident, adding that the injured passengers were taken to hospital, while the crew member suffered a sprained ankle.

The airline had previously said six passengers had been injured, but revised the figure.

On board the plane, which was an Airbus A330, there were 228 passengers, four babies and 13 crew members.

Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport declared an emergency after the incident, but operations on the runway have since resumed, said a source familiar with the matter who was not authorized to speak on the matter and asked not to be identified.
