Does Homelander die in The Boys season 5 episode 8?
Yes, the main villain of the show dies in the boys The last hurray of season 5.
During a final confrontation with Billy Butcher and Kimiko in the Oval Office, Homelander has the advantage over the pair despite their numerical disadvantage. However, the battle takes a turn when his estranged son Ryan, who has power identical to that of Homelander, who is Ryan’s biological father, arrives on the scene to help the titular team put an end to Homelander’s autocracy.
Eventually, Ryan and Butcher manage to subdue Homelander long enough for Kimiko to use her nascent nuke-style superpower against him. That ability, which he acquired after Sister Sage and the recently deceased Frenchie successfully recreated the experiment that gave Soldier Boy a similar superhuman trait in the 1950s.
Anyway, after a vision from Frenchie helps Kimiko focus all of her energies on unleashing her new superpower, the resulting explosion not only hits Homelander, Butcher, and Ryan, but also knocks the Super-creating Compound V serum out of their bodies, permanently stripping them of their powers.
Mortal once again (remember, Homelander took a dose of V1, which grants immortality to anyone it is administered to, in season 5, episode 6) and stripped of his Superman abilities, Homelander begs for his life. Unsurprisingly, his words fall on deaf ears with Butcher, who delivers a brutal beating to his archenemy in retaliation for Frenchie’s death in the penultimate episode of season 5.
With a shrunken and bloodied Homelander leaning against the President of the United States’ destroyed table in the Oval Office, Butcher prepares to deliver the final blow. Saying “this is for Becca”, aka Butcher’s wife whom Homelander sexually assaulted years ago, Butcher drives a crowbar into Homelander’s skull, before pulling it back with such force that he spills the latter’s brains and blood all over the floor and the aforementioned desk.
Does Billy Butcher Die in The Boys Season 5 Finale?
Yes, Butcher also dies in the TV show on one of the best streaming services.
Later that day, as the eponymous group celebrates saving the world, Butcher sneaks away to have a quiet moment with Ryan. However, despite Butcher’s attempts to make peace with his dead wife’s only son, Ryan rejects Butcher’s suggestion that they start a new life together, with Butcher as Ryan’s legal guardian, and leaves.
Upset by Ryan’s rejection, Butcher soon learns that his dog Terror also died. Angry at this emotional double whammy, and believing it’s only a matter of time before he creates another Homelander and bent on bending humanity to his will, Butcher locates the virus that kills the Supes and leaves without telling the rest of the group where he’s going.
Luckily, Hughie not only learns that Butcher is gone, but also sees him heading to Vought Tower. There, the duo reunite and Butcher tells Hughie that he added the virus to the water that feeds the building’s fire sprinkler system. When the Supes arrive to work at Vought the next day, he will activate the system via a remote trigger, killing those who cannot escape. Meanwhile, the fleeing Supes will spread the contagion throughout the world, thus eradicating all superhumans from the planet, including Kimiko and Starlight, Hughie’s long-time girlfriend.
Hughie is unable to dissuade Butcher from his genocidal plan, so a fight predictably ensues, which Butcher easily wins. However, as he prepares to activate the sprinklers earlier than expected to prevent Hughie from stopping him, Butcher mistakes Hughie for his dead brother Vinnie. The delay gives Hughie enough time to grab his gun, which Butcher had disarmed him of, and shoot Butcher twice in the chest.
When Butcher falls to the ground and begins to bleed out, Hughie apologizes profusely for doing what he did. Butcher, however, understands why he did it and, after Hughie comforts Butcher in his final moments, the latter takes his last breath before succumbing to his injuries.
Who else dies in The Boys series finale?
Despite the aforementioned couple and the Terror, the boysThe season 5 finale only kills off two other characters: The Deep and Oh Father.
As for the former, he is killed by a giant squid after Starlight uses her powers to push him into the sea. Remember, the ocean fauna accused The Deep of causing a giant oil pipeline to rupture, killing billions of underwater creatures, in Season 5, Episode 6. It was Black Noir II, whom The Deep murders in the aforementioned episode, who actually destroyed that pipeline but, despite The Deep’s protests in Season 5, Episode 7, his former aquatic allies don’t believe him. They also tell him that if he ever sets foot in the ocean again, they will kill him, so when Starlight uses her concussive blast to knock him into the sea, The Deep is quickly taken care of.
As for Oh Father, he dies at the hands of Mother’s Milk. In fact, the latter uses a titanium ball gag, powerful enough to resist Oh Father’s sonic scream ability, on the corrupt Supe as he prepares to unleash it on Hughie. However, the scream is so powerful that it echoes through the gag and causes Oh Father’s head to explode.
What happens to everyone else in the latest episode of The Boys?
They survive and, for the most part, have a happy ending.
Indeed, in a montage-style epilogue, Hughie and Starlight have taken over the former’s father’s former audio-visual shop and are using it as a front for their own small business ‘Supe for Hire’. It is revealed that they are also expecting their first child, who will be named Robin after Hughie’s ex who was murdered by A-Train in the boys‘first episode.
Meanwhile, Mother’s Milk becomes Ryan’s legal guardian and renews her marriage vows with her life. Kimiko fulfills Frenchie’s wish before his death by moving to Marseille and adopting the Bernadoodle he showed her in the penultimate episode of season 5.
On the Vought side, Stan Edgar becomes the temporary CEO of the Supe corporation, while Ashley Barratt is removed as vice president of the United States. Lastly, Sister Sage, whose powers were taken away by Kimiko’s nuclear blast ability earlier in episode 8, heads off to start a new life as a normal human being.
What happens to Soldier Boy in The Boys season 5 episode 8?
He doesn’t die, if that’s what you’re asking. In fact, Soldier Boy doesn’t appear at all in the final episode of The Boys.
The reason? Homelander froze him again in the penultimate episode of Season 5. For this and countless other betrayals, Homelander returned his father to his cryochamber, which is where Soldier Boys remain… for now.

No. Once the end credits of ‘Blood and Bone’ have run their course, there is no end credits scene to stay with. So, don’t expect to get any hints about future spinoffs that are in the works at Amazon. Speaking of which…
