Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will feature “huge amounts of customization” across all available classes, including the new Endgame Specialist class.
This is according to game director Chris Cross, who told TechRadar Gaming in an interview at Summer Game Fest 2026 that in addition to the new addition of four-player co-op, “there are a lot of different ways to create” the highly customizable Specialist class, which also has its own progression system.
“Basically, you can end up with a really awesome multiclass,” he said, adding as an example: “It’s like a Marauder and a Gunslinger.”
The game will also introduce four new elemental damage types, fire, cyro, electric and piercing, as well as interchangeable weapon attachments, which can be used to combat the three “expanded” enemy factions, Xenomorphs, Pathogenic Horrors and Security Synths, which will have their own “weaknesses and strengths against different damage types.”
Players can also build their fire team however they want, with Cross confirming that squads can “take four medics and they won’t be the same.”
“There’s enough customization that you can throw in four medics, and they’re all going to be different,” he said, “It’s mostly weapon synergy, damage synergy, skill synergy. It’s funny, you’d think four medics wouldn’t be that offensively capable, but actually, you can take a poison medic and leave a poison medic station; it’s almost a cheat code, because almost all of them are using overclocked aid. It’s totally awesome.”
Cross added: “There are basically almost an infinite number of ways to coordinate with your friends how you want to gear up as a group… You can customize it to your liking.”
Managing your equipment will also become more important as players reach higher difficulties because friendly fire will be activated, which in turn makes coordination with your squad vital.
For this reason, Cross explained that the ability to crouch “becomes very important at higher difficulties.”
“Bending over seems so trivial, but it’s actually one of the most important things,” he said. The director also hinted at Horde mode, which has been “revamped” from the first game, but is keeping some additional features under wraps for now.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.
