Dawnwalker’s Blood might not exist if it weren’t for the experienced Rebel Wolves developers who worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077.
This is according to game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who told TechRadar Gaming during a hands-on preview event that without the experience former CD Projekt Red developers gained with these role-playing games (RPGs), “it wouldn’t be possible to create a game like this.”
“A game with so many complex choices and consequences, with so many unique mechanics. We build on what we learned and what we co-created in the past,” Tomaszkiewicz said.
The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 famous for launching with major performance issues. They were so mean to Cyberpunk 2077 in fact, the game was temporarily removed from the PlayStation Store. Both games eventually received major upgrades and are now considered two of the best RPGs of all time.
To avoid similar problems with Dawnwalker’s BloodThe director revealed that the team prioritized optimization at the beginning of development.
“We learned how to approach game optimization,” he said. “When we started working on The Blood of the Dawn WalkerWe already had people working on optimizing our game all the time, from the beginning.
“We didn’t want to be in a situation where we deliver a great game, but there are problems when we release it on consoles or some performance issues.”
Dawnwalker’s Blood launches on September 3 for PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and PC.
