NEW YORK – All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Women’s World Champion Thekla seemingly had the odds stacked against her entering a four-way dance with her title on the line at Double or Nothing on Sunday.
Thekla faced Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida for the title. And quickly, her opponents pounced on her as soon as the bell rang. The idea was to keep the “Toxic Spider” in his own web while the other three tried to overpower each other.

Statlander and Shida were more aligned with each other than Hayter was with anyone else. It didn’t last too long though. Shida hit Statlander with a kendo stick to break up a pin attempt. Statlander and Shida then came to blows after Shida slapped his teammate in the face.
Thekla was not deterred. Despite being expelled from the game several times, she waited for the right moment to attack. Hayter and Shida were outside the ring and collided as each tried to hit each other with a double clothesline.

It was Thekla’s time to shine with Statlander alone in the ring. Statlander was dazed and confused when Thekla hit her with a nasty stomp. She pinned Statlander to win and retain the AEW Women’s World Championship.
The Austrian-born AEW star won the title from Statlander at “Dynamite” in February. Since then he has made six successful defenses of the title.

It’s unclear what’s next for Thekla. She suggested in the post-show scrum that she is following the Owen Hart Women’s Tournament closely and picked her Triangle of Madness teammate Skye Blue to win it.
