Enthusiasm increases Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4but that doesn’t mean Black ops 7 the latest title in the series, has stopped receiving important updates. Developer Activision has just lifted the curtain on the game’s upcoming Season 4 update and it includes an unexpected addition. Black Ops 2 reversion.
When the season launches on June 4, you’ll be able to play a new Black Ops Classic multiplayer mode. This mode has been designed to bring you back to the glory days of Black Ops 2, with simplified loadouts, the classic movement system and, of course, a series of iconic maps. That means no movement (which generally allows players to run in any direction), wall jumping, or sliding, like in the original game.
“We wanted to get as close as possible to a classic moment (Black Ops 2 as a goal) as we could,” design director Matt Scronce explained in a recent X post. He went on to clarify that the tac-sprint (which has appeared in various forms as of late) Obligations games after its incorporation in 2019 modern warfare) will be disabled.
The mode will also be restricted to older maps, which presumably means Hijacked and Raid, in addition to the new Vertigo remaster that will also be added as part of the next season, for matches of classic game modes such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed.
Fan reactions to the announcement on social media have been overwhelmingly positive so far. “This mode is a dream, bro,” one commenter wrote in response to Scronce’s post.
“I can’t believe this is literally EXACTLY what so many of us have been asking for,” said another. “I’m so excited.”
Black ops 7 Season 4 also includes other multiplayer additions, including some brand new maps, a host of new weapons, and more. This is in addition to big updates to the Warzone, Endgame, and Zombies modes, which you can read all about on the official Call of Duty blog.
Black ops 7 It is now available for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Xbox One.
