TNA’s KC Navarro talks about the Ultimate X match at Slammiversary

KC Navarro nearly won the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) X Division Championship at Slammiversary, but the moment was special nonetheless.

Navarro was able to compete against his mentor Amazing Red in the match. The red team won in one of the best sequences of the match. Navarro also talked about fighting his fear of heights while trying to climb the pillar to climb the rope and get the title.

“So this Ultimate “But this year was very special to me because Amazing Red was in it. A lot of people don’t know it, but based on the feedback, Amazing Red was a great mentor to me throughout my career. Someone I looked up to. I mean, obviously him and I, the same height, you know, did incredible things, no pun intended, incredible things in the X Division, former X Division champion, and just being a part of his first match back, it was very special to me.

“I was really grateful that he and I had a moment in the ring too. I know it was very special for him too. I hope he comes back. That will be amazing. I think it’s amazing, great to see him back. But it was very special for me. You know, at Slammiversary last year, I came in with a torn ACL and put my career on the line in that ladder match against The Hardys, the Nemeths and The Rascalz. This year, I came in with a new knee in Ultimate

Navarro added that fighting his fear of heights is just part of the job.

“Yeah, I’m not a fan of heights and it could just be the injury, right? Like I’ve been thinking too much, ‘Oh man, what if I get hurt?’ But I mean it’s just me, man,” he said. “I just keep God first. I count on the adrenaline to get me through it, because once the bell rings, I have no choice. I have to go for that belt.

“Once the bell rings and the lights come on, I’m all good. But it’s just having a strong mentality of knowing that this is what I have to do and I can’t think negative. I have to come out positive and know that I’m going to come in healthy, come out healthy and maybe come out a champion too.”

Navarro is in the middle of a feud with TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth. Navigating the rivalry could return him to the top of the list.
