Security forces rescue academics and officials from Kardgap area 12 days after kidnapping

The vice-chancellor of Gwadar University, along with three others kidnapped 12 days ago near Khad Kocha area of Mastung, were safely recovered during a security operation on Sunday.
According to security sources, VC Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir, Pro-VC Dr Syed Manzoor Ahmed, VC personal personnel officer Dr Muhammad Irshad and driver Hatam Khan were traveling by car to Quetta on May 13 when gunmen intercepted them in the Khad Kocha area of Mastung.
The attackers established a blockade and forcibly kidnapped the four people. Following the incident, security forces launched an extensive search operation to ensure his safe recovery.
Sources said the abductees were recovered from Kardgap area in Mastung during a continuous search and clearance operation. After recovery, the four individuals were transported to Quetta.
Security agencies continued to actively participate in efforts to locate and recover the kidnapped officials since the day of the incident. The successful recovery comes after almost two weeks of sustained operations in the area.
Balochistan has witnessed a quiet insurgency for more than two decades. The province, the largest in terms of area but the smallest in terms of population, shares long and porous borders with Iran and Afghanistan; The latter is often accused of serving as a focus for terrorist organizations of various shades.
