Vought on the riseThe release date has not been publicly revealed. However, in April, Deadline reported that it will arrive on Prime Video, also known as one of the best streaming services, sometime in 2027. That means it could arrive three years after its official announcement in mid-2024.
When do I think it will be released? That’s hard to say. Many of Prime Video’s remaining 2026 projects have no release dates, let alone any scheduled to air next year. That said, with three of the boys‘five seasons premiering in June or July over the past seven years, I wouldn’t bet against a June or July 2027 release.

Here is the confirmed cast for Vought on the rise until now:
- Jensen Ackles as child soldier
- Aya Cash as Liberty
- Mason Dye as Bombsight
- Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel
- Will Hochman as Torpedo
Of the previous quintet, we already know the first three.
Ackles’ soldier boy appears in the boys‘ the last three seasons (although his appearance in Season 4 came via a post-credits cameo). Cash’s Liberty, who we knew as Stormfront in the boyswas a main villain in the second season of that show and then had a small role to play in season 3. Meanwhile, Dye’s Bombsight played a minor but significant role in the boys season 5 episode 6.
As for Posey and Hochman, they were confirmed as part of the cast in August 2025. We don’t know what superpowers they will possess, but considering Torpedo’s name, I would expect this Supe to have a set of water-based abilities like The Deep had in the boys.
Given Vought on the riseIn The Boys’ place in the timeline (more on that shortly), I would expect other characters we’re familiar with to show up at some point.
On the one hand, Frederick Vought, also known as the founder of Vought International and creator of the Supe-making serum known as Compound V, is a sure candidate to appear. never appeared in the boysso we still don’t know which actor could play him.
Ethan Slater’s Thomas Godolkin, who was eventually revealed to be Generation V The main villain of season 2 is also expected to appear. He was Vought’s right-hand man, so he should be part of the process as well.

Here’s the incredibly brief plot synopsis of Vought on the rise: “Set in the 1950s, the prequel series explores the twisted origins of Vought International.”
So there’s not much to go on, but there are certain things we already know about his story.
For starters, it will be set in the 1950s, exploring the origins of Vought International and covering the events surrounding the creation of Compound V and the first superhumans. By Deadline, its narrative will also revolve around a “twisting murder mystery.”
Eric Kripke, supervisor of The Boys franchise, explained to The Hollywood Reporter (THR): “We’re also trying to make a very raw version of the ’50s. Most people’s feeling or sensory memory of the ’50s comes from movies, which are very sanitized. Even Los Angeles ConfidentialAs much as I like it, it is, visually, a pretty clean film. We wanted dirty and grimy. There would be heroin dens, gay bars, and that underbelly of the popular culture of the time. So exploring all of that is also wonderful.”
Little is known about how four of Vought on the riseAll five Supes, including Liberty, will influence your story. However, Ackles has dropped a hint about what we can expect to see from Soldier Boy. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Ackles said: “In the boysin modern times, [Soldier Boy is] a fish out of water. He’s an analog guy trapped in a digital world. So now we see him in his element. “We see…what made him who he was.”
But will we also see Soldier Boy today? After all, he is still alive, albeit in cryosleep, at the end of the boys‘Fifth and final season. And, with Vought International back under Edgar’s control following the conclusion of the main program, Supe’s manufacturing megacorporation is still operational. It is possible, then, that Vought on the rise could have a double meaning: that is, it will relate to the founding of the company in the 1950s, but it could also imply that we will see Vought rise from the ashes after the events of The boys 5.
In a conversation with Deadline, Kripke responded “no comment” when asked if Vought on the rise would take place in two timelines (the ’50s and the present day), but we all know that’s usually code for “yes.” So don’t be surprised if Soldier Boy is unfrozen again and, at Edgar’s request, helps him revive Vought’s fortunes as the company’s new poster boy.
Will Vought Rising have a second season?
As expected, there is nothing official to report on this yet. But for what it’s worth, Ackles said. Collider says the “intention is for it to be a multi-season show,” so presumably there are more seasons in the works.
As with any television show today, especially those created for the world’s most popular streaming platforms, its future will be decided by viewers. If enough people tune in to watch Vought on the riseIn the first installment, Amazon MGM Studios is more likely to greenlight another season than not. However, if you strive to make an impact, everything will go the same way as Generation V and being fired early.
