England will take on Norway at Miami Stadium on Saturday, July 11 in a quarter-final showdown, as both teams look to seal a place in the final four of the 2026 World Cup.
England is coming off a satisfactory victory over Mexico at the Mexico City Stadium, a match played in difficult circumstances against the host country, at altitude and in a hostile environment. Still, England produced one of the most inspired performances in their national team’s history, beating Mexico 3-2 in the round of 16.
England also had to come from behind late in the round of 32 against the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where a double from Harry Kane in the 75th and 86th minutes saved England from a stunning upset.
For Norway, a late goal from Erling Haaland saw the team overcome a strong Ivory Coast team in the round of 32, before facing Brazil in the round of 16. A Haaland double allowed Norway to surprise Brazil and reach the round of 16.
Who are the referees for England vs. Norway?
French referee Clément Turpin will be the main referee between Norway and England in Miami. The experienced UEFA referee has refereed many high-level matches on both the club and international scene, including the 2022 Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool.
He has also refereed multiple French national finals, a Europa League final, European Championship matches, World Cup qualifiers and many more high-stakes matches.

This is Turpin’s third World Cup and his fourth mission in this tournament. He already coached England-Croatia, Paraguay-Australia and Colombia-Ghana, which was a round of 32 match.
This will be the highest level match Turpin has ever coached at the World Cup level. He previously officiated a round of 16 match in 2022 between Brazil and South Korea, but had never officiated a later round in the World Cup until this quarterfinal matchup.
His compatriots Nicolás Danos and Benjamín Pagès will be his assistants, while the Spanish Alejandro Hernández Hernández will be the fourth referee.
