- Familiar Faces sends detailed notifications that tell you exactly who is calling
- It can store names and faces of up to 50 people and is linked to your account.
- Rolling out now to Ring Pro and Ring Pro Intelligence subscribers
Ring has launched a new feature for its video doorbell and security cameras, which will let you know exactly who is calling at a glance. When activated, Familiar Faces will send you notifications that include the visitor’s name, so you don’t have to review the video yourself.
Familiar Faces can identify up to 50 people, which Ring says is similar to the number of individuals the human brain can recognize.
Helpfully, you can also opt out of receiving notifications when the doorbell or camera detects a particular person. For example, you can choose not to be informed when your partner comes and goes, or if there is a gardener or window cleaner working in your house. You can still receive an alert if your device detects other people on your Familiar Faces list or a stranger.

Put names to faces
Familiar Faces is rolling out now in the UK to people with a Ring Pro or Pro Intelligence subscription. The feature supports 2K and 4K cameras and doorbells, as well as select HD models.
You’ll receive a notification when Familiar Faces is available for your device, but you’ll have to enable it manually if you want to try it out. Your known people directory is protected within your account and is encrypted for security purposes. You are in control and can add, edit and remove people from the list at any time.
