Serena Williams shocked the tennis world on Sunday, as the 44-year-old tennis legend will return to Wimbledon after accepting a wild card.
Williams received the final spot in women’s singles, which had a gap after a prior announcement Tuesday.
She had already gotten a wild card to compete with her sister, Venus Williams, in the Wimbledon doubles competition. However, he noted that he would consider returning as a single earlier this month.

“Do you think I’m ready for singles? I need to get to work,” Serena said at SW19, according to Yahoo Sports.
Serena has won the women’s singles at Wimbledon seven times throughout her illustrious career, but there is still something she can chase: Margaret Court’s 24 Grand Slam victories. Serena is 23 years into her career.

It was 2019 the last time Serena won a women’s singles match, and it was at Wimbledon against Romania’s Simona Halep. He has only played two doubles matches since returning to competition after being out of the game for four years.
Serena’s career accolades go beyond a CVS receipt, winning every Grand Slam (including the Australian Open, French Open and US Open) at least three times. And along with her sister, Serena has achieved the career “Golden Slam” in singles and doubles.

She is the most recognized player in the sport today, and fans around the world will surely be watching to see how far she can go in this year’s tournament.
At Wimbledon in 2022, Serena said she didn’t know if it would be her last appearance at the tournament.
“Who knows where I will appear?” said Serena at that time, who also had a wild card for this Wimbledon.

He has always loved playing on grass, winning 107 of his 123 singles matches on that surface, which bodes well for his return.
Serena will find out who she faces in the first round this Friday, while the tournament begins on June 29.
