WNBA Picks for Sky vs Mercury with Best Bets and Props for Players Today

The WNBA season has been in session for about a week, so it’s too early to make any assumptions about the teams. That doesn’t mean we won’t make them; It’s too early to really believe it. I lost my first bet in the WNBA this season, so I hope to avenge that loss here when the Sky take on the Mercury.

The Chicago Sky are one of the worst managed basketball franchises. They have had big names on their team and only one championship proves it.

There’s really no clear indication of what’s wrong with the franchise, but they’ve never been able to retain their talent. Aside from Kamilla Cardoso, I can’t name any player on this team that they drafted. It seems like they just get good players and then show them the door.

Even though they have made questionable decisions in the front office, they seem to have put together a solid team for this season, something I did not expect before the season started.

They’re 2-0, which is too early to really say they’re a good team. I also want to reserve judgment until they face a team with a longer history than last year. The Portland Tempo played its first game against the Sky, and Golden State was good last year, but it is still in its second season of existence.

The Phoenix Mercury are considered one of the best franchises in the league. I’m sure there are issues that people have reported, but for the most part they have good facilities and people want to play for their team. They made it all the way to the WNBA Finals last season before losing to the Las Vegas Aces. This year, they look to restart that journey and see if they can win the last game of the year.

They will have to come with a better game than what they have shown in three games this year. They are 1-2 this year with an 0-1 record at home. The only victory was a blowout victory over the Aces (a clear revenge game if we’ve ever seen one). They then lost the next two games against Golden State and Minnesota. Losing to the Lynx wouldn’t be a problem, but they were without Napheesa Collier, who still has an ankle injury.

I hope Mercury makes some adjustments for this game. They haven’t looked very sharp to start the year, but they have been strong on offense, averaging 87 points per game.

The Sky will continue to rely on their offense to do enough and their defense to block. The Sky have an inside advantage, so they can score buckets quite easily. I like the 166.5 over in this game.

I also think it’s worth betting on Kahleah Copper to surpass her point total. Copper had two tough games before breaking out in the last game. He now has the same lines of sight and can attack the big guys in the sky with his athleticism. Since arriving in Phoenix, he has scored 29, 7, 16, 25 and 28 points in five games against them.
