Security forces and law enforcement agencies killed 22 terrorists during an intelligence-based joint operation (IBO) in Khyber district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on April 21, the army’s media wing said on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a joint operation was carried out in which terrorists belonging to the group khawarij The group, affiliated with the Indian-backed Fitna al Khawarij network, was killed after an intense exchange of fire with security forces.

The state uses the term Fitna al Khawarij to refer to terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The statement said: “Khawarij resorted to indiscriminate shooting, resulting in the martyrdom of an innocent ten-year-old boy.”

The statement added that disinfection operations are being carried out to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area.
