Rescue 1122 spokesperson says a search operation is underway to recover other people trapped under the rubble.
At least 10 people were killed and six others injured after a three-story building collapsed in the Baghbanpura area of Lahore on Wednesday night, according to Lahore Rescue 1122.
Lahore Rescue 1122 spokesperson Farooq Ahmad said the emergency response team pulled 16 people from the rubble; Six were declared dead at the scene, while the rest were taken to hospital for further treatment, adding that a search operation was underway to recover other people trapped under the rubble.
“Later, four more people succumbed to injuries at the hospital, taking the death toll to 10,” he said, adding that Lahore Services Hospital is currently housing four more people for treatment of critical injuries, while two more people have been discharged.
A list released by the spokesperson identified the deceased as: Shahida Bibi, 45, wife of Muhammad Shahid; Samina Bibi, 45, wife of Abbas Ali; Mujahid, 22, son of Shahid; Hamid, 7 years old, son of Abbas; Komal, daughter of Abbas; Hasnain, 10, son of Shahid; Neelam, 10, daughter of Abbas; Ahad Ali, 22, son of Shahid Ali; Ayesha Bibi, 18 years old; and Naseem Bibi, 72, wife of the late Meraj.
The seriously injured have been identified by rescue services as Saniya Bibi, Sehar Bibi, Zahid and Sabir Ali.
When asked about the total number of people present at the time of the collapse, Ahmad said: “Rescue 1122 is only aware of the people recovered from the collapsed building and is not sure how many people were actually present at the time of the incident.”

The police said The express PAkGazette that the roof of the dilapidated residential building collapsed in the Kotli Pir Abdul Rehman area around 10:15 p.m., causing the entire building to collapse.
According to police, members of a multi-generational family who lived in the residence on different floors were trapped after the building collapsed. Police revealed that an immediate rescue operation was launched to recover the victims from the rubble.

The city commissioner visited the hospital and the incident site late at night and met with the survivors rescued from the collapsed building.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Malik Waheed also visited the accident site and assured the families of those trapped in the rubble that all possible assistance would be provided to recover the victims.
The latest incident came just weeks after another deadly roof collapse in Lahore. On June 30, at least 14 children died when the roof of a private educational center operating in a dilapidated building in Kahna collapsed.
Subsequently, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered an immediate safety audit of all school buildings located in densely populated areas across the province in the wake of the tragedy.
It is worth noting that at least half of the more than 100 monsoon-related deaths were caused by house and roof collapses, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
