CD Projekt Red has shared new details about The Witcher 3: Wild HuntThe third expansion, songs from the pastconfirming that it will be “familiar” for fans of Blood & Came.
While the studio initially confirmed that it would not be showing anything new for the recently announced expansion pack during Redstream’s 10th anniversary for blood and wineThe developers ended the stream by answering several questions that fans were eagerly awaiting answers to.
Following the expansion’s reveal, eagle-eyed fans spotted a connection between Geralt’s third sword and another sword in an illustration released last month to celebrate Belleteyn. CDPR went on to confirm that yes, the sword is the same one shown in both artworks, and also teased other clues about songs from the past that have not yet been found.
“We won’t reveal too much at this time because we want you to experience it while you play,” said Laura Beitzel, senior manager of social media and community.
“But as some eagle-eyed people have already seen in the last 24 hours, there are some clues waiting for you on a very important night in Witcher history, the Night of Belleteyn, in our Belleteyn celebration we shared a few weeks ago. So… keep looking for clues.”
Amerlia Korzycka, community expert and social media manager at CDPR, added that Geralt’s new sword is “a very important sword for the story” and fans should learn more “in a few more streams” before the expansion’s release.
When asked how big Songs of the Past will be, Beitzel said that “it will be aligned with what you know in blood and wineand what you’ve come to experience and expect from us when we make our expansions,” suggesting it will be roughly the same scale and could take between 20 and 30 hours to complete both the main story and side content.
“It is an expansion, let’s make it clear,” Beitzel stressed.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past will be released in 2027, and players will once again take on the role of Geralt and “embark on a new adventure before setting out on the Journey as Ciri in the next the witcher 4“.
