- Someone may have carried grand theft car 5 to nintendo switch
- Performance seems poor and reaches 22FPS maximum
- Makes me wonder what grand theft car 6 might look like it’s running on Switch 2
While we wait grand theft car 6someone has apparently managed to carry grand theft car 5 to the Nintendo Switch.
The port was apparently created by M0jso and posted on Reddit, where images apparently show a native v2699 (2023) version of the 13-year-old game, running on the original Switch, albeit quite poorly.
The performance overlay shows the frame rate peaking at 22 FPS and dropping to 11 FPS in places, but it looks playable.

One user explained that the images had been deleted a while ago, but it appears the project is in progress again. M0jso showed more videos about X, explaining that rendering can break in some places, crashes are frequent, but apparently they managed to reproduce. GTA 5 on a real Switch console.
Overall, however, performance seems poor and the chances of the game reaching console or PC level quality seem slim. It made me wonder what GTA 6 It might appear to run on the Nintendo Switch 2, a more advanced system that features 4K and 1440p resolutions and 60 FPS.
For now, Rockstar hasn’t shared any plans to port the game to Switch 2 (nor has a PC version been announced), but we’ve seen demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy running on console with minor frame rate issues.
That said, GTA 6 It will be a huge game, with a map possibly even bigger than Cyberpunk 2077 and GTA 5‘s. Not to mention the dense locations and level of detail that PS5 and Xbox Series X will also have to deal with.
While the game’s performance characteristics have yet to be revealed, reports have claimed that it will likely run at 30 FPS on PS5 consoles due to CPU limitations, which could make the likelihood of a Switch 2 port quite slim.
According to Digital Foundry, GTA 6 Running at 60 FPS on current gen could be a challenge, but a 40 FPS mode could be possible.
There’s still just under five months until the game launches on November 19, so we could learn more about performance, possible graphics modes, and even get a third trailer soon.
