Meghan Markle took a major turn in her stance when she finally set foot on British soil this month for a long-awaited meeting between the Sussexes and King Charles.
Previously, sources close to the couple had shared that Meghan had no plans to return despite Prince Harry being “desperate” for a reunion.
However, a royal expert claims that Meghan was forced to make this decision for the sake of her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Now they are trying to get a “foot back in the door,” according to Majesty Magazine editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward.
He noted that children might be “annoyed” at their parents for keeping them away from much of their lives.
“They might ask ‘why haven’t you introduced me to my other life, my cousins, my heritage’, and I think it would be awkward for Harry and Meghan to explain it,” Ingrid told The Sun.
Furthermore, Meghan also realized that it is better to be on good terms with her in-laws as she needs the “royal gold dust” to improve her “shattered” image. Meanwhile, Harry wants to reconcile with his father because he misses his old life and family.
“I’m sure the couple is humiliating themselves. Right now, in Meghan’s house, the Americans hate her,” the expert said.
“Her popularity is in tatters (of course, there will always be Meghan superfans), but she is largely seen as someone who severs ties with her own family and she is also seen as someone who separates Harry and the children from their family.”
Efforts are therefore being made to ensure ties are repaired over time, but there is a big risk as Prince William and Princess Catherine remain against the idea.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have shown no interest in meeting the Sussexes, although the King has reportedly encouraged it behind the scenes.
