Twelve men crossed the “gate of death” Sunday night at All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) Forbidden Gate with two goals in mind.

Mark Briscoe and his five team members hoped to defeat AEW World Champion MJF and the five members who had been forced to support him in a steel cage match. If Briscoe’s team won, Briscoe would receive an AEW World Championship match against MJF.

AEW debuted a circular cage to keep the 12 men housed. The unique setup brought its own kind of dangerous fun for each of the competitors. Thumbtacks were introduced into the mix, Kyle O’Reilly used a Nintendo entertainment system as a weapon, Kevin Knight was shocked on top of the cage and fell through some tables, and even Lio Rush made an appearance.

It came down to whether Team Briscoe would be able to win over the Don Callis Family and MJF. Andrade El Idolo, who was supposed to back up MJF, had his own opportunity to push Briscoe away. But he refused to take orders from MJF and took off his “Team DCMJF” shirt to reveal some gear with some insults directed at the champion and Don Callis.

Andrade hit MJF with his signature back fist. Jake Doyle was stumped and Andrade kicked him in the groin. Briscoe hit Doyle with a Jay Driller and pinned him.

Briscoe’s team of O’Reilly, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, Darby Allin and Konosuke Takeshita defeated MJF, Andrade, Doyle, Knight, Kyle Fletcher and Kazuchika Okada.
