Ryan Reynolds has passionately defended his wife Blake Lively as her high-profile legal battle with Justin Baldoni continues to play out in public, rejecting reports that the lawsuit has damaged his standing in Hollywood.
He deadpool The star, 49, told Willie Geist during a live taping of Sunday sit-in who has never been more proud of anyone.
“I have never in my life been more proud of someone with that level of integrity who brings it with him and carries it with him in everything he does,” he said.
When asked how the couple is dealing with the fallout, Reynolds was measured but firm.
“People have no idea what’s really going on, you know? You really see a kind of illusion behind a lot of these things, you know? Digital life versus real life.”
His comments came in direct response to a wave of negative press surrounding Lively, 38, including a report in the daily mail in which an anonymous Disney executive claimed that the lawsuit had “ruined her in Hollywood,” adding that she “had a reputation for being difficult.”
The same report suggested that Reynolds and Lively were considering moving to the UK so she could rebuild her profile there.
Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment and retaliation stemming from her time on the set of Finish with us.
Baldoni, 42, denied the allegations and filed a $400 million countersuit, which was dismissed in June.
Earlier this month, a federal judge dismissed ten of Lively’s thirteen complaints, including sexual harassment allegations, on legal and technical grounds, although her retaliation case will move forward to trial on May 18.
Lively addressed the ruling on Instagram, making it clear that she did not want to litigate, but felt she had no other option.
“The last thing I wanted in my life was a lawsuit, but I filed this case because of the widespread RETALIATION I faced, and continued to face, for privately and professionally asking for a safe work environment for myself and others,” he wrote.
With settlement talks having failed, the two sides are now headed for a court showdown next month.
