- Ozone 3K and Ozone 5K are considered the world’s thinnest magnetic power banks
- At just 4.98mm thick, the Ozone 3K is even thinner than the iPhone Air
- Currently these powerbanks are on Kickstarter
While most MagSafe battery packs work with the iPhone Air, due to their different design than other iPhones, they won’t necessarily fit perfectly, aside from the few that are designed specifically for Apple’s super-thin smartphone. But even those designed for it can be a little thick, which isn’t ideal when the goal of this phone is to be thin. However, a new battery solves that problem.
Dubbed the Ozone 3K, it’s just 4.98mm thick, which Kopplen (the company behind it) says makes it the world’s thinnest magnetic power bank. While that’s not easy to verify, it’s certainly thinner than the iPhone’s official Air MagSafe battery at about 7.7mm thick, or the similarly thick Anker Nano Power Bank. And it’s also thinner than the iPhone Air itself at 5.6mm.
Of course, being so thin, the Ozone 3K doesn’t have a huge capacity, with its 3000 mAh of power providing a 62% charge to the iPhone Air, although there is also an Ozone 5K, which can give you a full charge, but is 6.49 mm thick.
Not just for the iPhone Air
And although we focus on the iPhone Air here, both Ozone models are also compatible with other iPhones, as well as Qi2 Android devices. In fact, if you use them with an Android phone, you’ll get up to 15W of charging power, while on iPhones you’re limited to 7.5W.
Both battery packs are lightweight too, with the Ozone 3K weighing 77g and the 5K weighing 97g and currently not too expensive, with an early bird price on Kickstarter of just $44.99 (around £35 / AU$65), down from a standard price of $69.99 (around £50 / AU$105).
Interestingly, that price applies to both models, so you don’t have to pay extra to get more capacity. Although of course, since they’re currently on Kickstarter, there’s no guarantee they’ll ever ship, so you might want to wait for retail, although it will cost a bit more.
